Note:
- The cable screen
must be connected to pin 1 at the modem / multiplexor end only; provided that
Pin 1 on the modem / multiplexor is connected to GROUND.
If the modem /
multiplexor does not support GROUND on pin 1, then the cable screen must be
disconnected from pin1 and connected to the cover screw.
Modems / multiplexors
known to support GROUND on pin 1 are :- Gandalf 24VEC,24EC,2120,4232,SMUX,MMUX,KMUX.
MAXAM III. Arrow 80 and arrow 640 data ports.
Modems / multiplexors
known not to support GROUND on pin 1 are :- Maxam IV,V,VII. Maxam MXF
and BT4122 ACX.
- The modem /
multiplexor must support X-ON / X-OFF flow control. Hardware flow control
can not be used.
- Maximum length
is 100ft.
