INFORMATION (NOW AB129) RELEASE
PROOF OF DELIVERY (P.O.D.)
1. This admin
bulletin has been released to introduce the P.O.D. solution that is offered by EDP to our
customers.
2. DESCRIPTION
2.1. P.O.D. is a method by which a
delivery note (DN), which has been signed by the recipient, can be
copied by
means of a scanner onto a PC running Windows on DOS and then called up at any time,
should the
need arise, to prove that goods have been signed for.
2.2. This document contains the following information:-
- Hardware requirements
- Software requirements
- Hardware description/configuration
- Loading Software drivers
3. HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
- NCR 3348 PC with Pentium 90MHZ processor
- 1.44MB floppy disk drive
- 4.3GB Conner fast SCSI disk drive
- 4mm DAT drive
- Optical disk drive. (WORM)

5. HARDWARE DESCRIPTION/CONFIGURATION
5.1. The NCR3348 PC is a mini-tower PC
consisting of a base-board containing the Pentium processor, 6
memory
simms, 3 PCI slots (1 shared), 5 EISA/ISA slots (1 shared). Also contained on the
base-board is
the VGA
controller with 1MB of RAM, 256k cache and both a PCI and ISA IDE on-board controller.
A 250 watt psu supplies all power requirements.
5.2. The drive bay containing the 4mm
DAT, Optical drive, floppy disk drive and 4.3GB hard disk drive can be
removed as
one whole unit. Remove the system covers, the front bezel by pressing the release tabs,
one
locating screw on top of the drive bay and push in the locating tabs on either side and
withdraw
the unit to
the front of the system.
5.3. OPTICAL DRIVE
This is a 1.5GB optical drive and can be used as a WORM or optical drive depending on the
type of CD
caddy
loaded at that time.
Switches should be set as follows:-
1, 4, 5, 8 off. All others are on.
This gives a SCSI ID 6.
5.4. 4MM DAT DRIVE
The jumpers to the rear of the unit should all be removed.
Switches are then used to set up the drive as follows:-
3, 4 on. All others are off.
This gives a SCSI ID 4.
5.5. CONNER 4GB HARD DISK
This device should be terminated with 2 x SIL resistor packs and with jumper E8 installed.
Jumpers E1,
E2,
E3 select the SCSI ID and these should be removed. No other jumpers should be installed.
This gives a SCSI ID 0.
5.6. FAX/MODEM CARD MT2834ZPXI (ISA)
As
this is an ISA device one must configure the required interrupt and I/O address before
installing the
pcb.
Jumper 13 IN
- - - - - -
F E 3 2
This sets the boards IRQ to 3.
5.7. XIONIC SCANNER INTERFACE
This is an ISA pcb and as such needs jumpers/switches setting before installing into the system.
Switches 1, 4, 5, 6 ON.
This sets the I/O address to 2C0-2C7
5.8. AHA ADAPTEC SCSI DRIVER
This is a PCI board and as such requires no switches/jumpers to be set. The IRQ will be
automatically
assigned to 9 by the system BIOS.
5.9. BIOS F2 SETUPS
Pressing F2 on power up enables access to the BIOS settings. Take all default settings
except that
you
must disable COM2 port.
5.10. SCSI SELECT UTILITY
Pressing CTRL+A on power up enables access to the SCSI Select Utility. Take all defaults.
