ADDENDUM TO PATCH UPDATE

TAPE 2 FOR SVR4 3.00.01

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION

It has come to light that after loading patches from the tape on to an S40 there is insufficient space in /stand to allow a new kernel to be relinked.

There are two solutions:-

  1. New systems and system reloads on any system with 3.00.xx installed, increase the size of /stand from its default size of 20 MB to 30 MB.

  2. On sites where just the updates are to be loaded.

Before commencing the patch update, check how much free space there is in /stand:-

#dfspace (CR)

If there is less than 5MB then delete unix.diag.

#rm unix.diag (CR)

This will free up sufficient space to allow a new kernel to be relinked.

The reason for choosing unix.diag is that as a part of the relink operation unix, the existing kernel, is moved to unix.diag.
