Jumper Settings

There is one jumper on the EISA Xem host adapter. This must be left in the factory set position, between pins 1 and 2 (the left and middle pins).

Installing the Host Adapter in your computer

Turn off your computer and disconnect any attached peripheral devices.

Remove the cover from the computer.

Unscrew and remove the external slot cover plate from the slot into which you wish to install the EISA Xem host adapter.

Carefully insert the host adapter into the slot in the computer. Press the board firmly into the EISA bus connector and replace the screw in the host adapters endplate.

Replace the computers cover.

System Configuration

Power on the system with the EISA Configuration Diskette (SCU). During the boot-up process, the system should display a message to the effect that an unknown board has been found. This is the EISA Xem host adapter installed in the previous procedure.

At the SCU main menu select ADD/REMOVE boards. The SCU will look for the configuration file !DBI0201.CFG. it will not be found, and prompt,

Insert diskette that contains file !DB10201.CFG.

This file will be on a diskette "EISA Configuration Files" which accompanies the Hardware.

After file has been restored, replace this diskette with the SCU. The ADD/REMOVE menu is now displayed.

Press Insert to select Add.

The program will display a list of the .CFG files.

Select !DBI0201.CFG - Digiboard EISA/Xem Host adapter.

Select from the slot listing, the Physical Adapter slot position.

Escape to exit this display and return to main menu.

Select Change Configuration Settings.

Select Digiboard EISA/Xemm Host Adapter.

The screen prompts for setting of:

Xem Dual-Ported memory Address, Set to E0000h under 1 meg.

Xem Dual-Port Mem Enbl/Dsbl, set to disable.

Xem Interupt Configuration, set to disable.

Escape back to main menu, save configuration and exit to reboot.

Remove SCU diskette.

Installing Unix/Unixware MPI Package.

At console login: root

Install Digiboard Package Diskette 1 of 3

At # pkgadd-d diskette1

Type `go' when prompted

Select MPI Package number i.e. 1

Package load commences.

Add diskettes 2 and 3 when prompted.

When complete `Q' to quit, screen returns to #

At # mpi

At restricted rights legend

At main menu select: config - install, change, and remove.

At config menu select: install - install new products.

At Pick List select: Digi EPC/X C/X, Xem and clusterport family.

At board configuration:

Total number of boards to be installed: 1

Adapter Type: Digi_Xem_(EISA)

Memory Address: 0x000e0000

TTY ID select: Auto

Number of Port Module: 1

Config Status: Yes

At # shutdown -y -i6 -g0 , the kernel is now rebuilding and the system reboots. During the reboot the MPI configuration will down load to the Digiboard adapter and a mssg similar to:

Digi EPCA Software down load started.

System console will display login.

Ports and printers can now be configured by using SYSADM.

When adding printers and ports, the digiboard devices are for example, /dev/term/a09s
