NEW RIO DRIVER "NCR UNIX VERSION 1"
As you will be aware we have encountered the following problems with the generic RIO Driver supplied by Specialix.
At our request they have developed a driver specifically targeted for NCR SVR 3-xx. This driver is known as "NCR Unix Version 1".
The following problems are fixed in this version:
(1)RTAs do not configure on reboots
(2)If more than 18 RTAs are configured then rioadm SIGSEGVs.
(3)If a LDU link fails for whatever reason and 1p attempts to print, then all printing halts until the LDU link is re-established.
Installation
(a)using rioadm record the exact configuration of all RTAs.
(b)pkgrm the original RIO package. You must not load the new RIO package over the old RIO package.
(c)pkgadd the new RIO Driver.
(d)Configure all RTAs as per (a) and test for functionality.
(e)Replace the original RIO driver diskette with the new one. Update the on-site document.
(f)Advise the service centre that the job is complete.
This RIO Driver will be shipped by Production with all new systems as appropriate.
CSS are to arrange upgrades to existing configurations. The new Driver should be requested from Production.
