UPS SOFTWARE FOR 650VA UPS ON NCR 3269

1.     INTRODUCTION

Basic Installation procedures for the NCR 650VA UPS on an NCR3269 System using PowerMon II Software V3.2.2.

2.     THE FIRST STEP IS TO SETUP THE COMM PORT.(Do not connect the Comm cable yet!)

2.1   SETUP THE SERIAL PORT (COMM PORT 2) TO 2400 BAUD RATE

#mkdev serial and set the baud rate to `K'

Edit the /etc/inittab and the /etc/conf/init.d/sio files accordingly.

set baud rate to `K' on tty2a and tty2A

#enable tty2A

#disable tty2A

#stty

2.2  NOW CONNECT UP THE UPS DATA CABLE TO COMM PORT TWO.

3.     NOTE: Two diskettes are included in the software package ONLY diskette #1 is required.

Diskette #1Interactive, SCO UNIX, SCO XENIX, Solaris (Intel), Unix Ware, SVR4

Diskette #2IBM AIX(RISC Systems/6000), Solaris (SPARC), SunOS.

Follow instructions

1. Disconnect data cable

2. connect data cable

3. this sets up `modem' connection to the UPS.

4.13  SHUTDOWN TIMER

Specifies how long software waits after detection of a power-fail before commencing shutdown procedure

Default setting 180 seconds

4.14  POLLING INTERVAL

Indicates how often to poll for UPS status

Default setting 1 second

4.15  STARTING DELAY

Time for software to wait before automatically activating the monitor.

Default setting 120 seconds

SET TO 30 seconds

4.16  ENABLE BATTERY BACKUP MESSAGE BROADCASTING

Display message to users that system running on battery.

WAIT BEFORE FIRST BROADCAST

Time delay before first message. Default setting 10 seconds.

INTERVAL BETWEEN MESSAGES

Time delay between messages. Default setting 60 seconds.

4.17  ENABLE DIALING OUT ON EVENTS

To remotely inform of power failure. Default setting NO.
