3.mode of operation
3.1.the intelligent cashdrawer has an interface board, which is
Programmable by means of 10 dip switches.
The standard setting is:-
9600 8 data 1 stop none parity.
To operate the cashdrawer, two "CTRL-G" are required.
The solenoid is fired using a timed pulse,
which should eliminate solenoid burnout experienced in earlier
types of cashdrawer.
3.2the cashdrawer is supplied with a short data cable; 8 pin
Miniture din to double 9 pin d type, one
male one female. An interface cable of appropriate length will be
required, to connect into the VDU aux port.
This cable will be 9 pin d type male to 25 pin d type male
with the specification shown below.

4.setting up.
4.1ensure all power and data are disconnected before proceeding.
4.1access the interface board by:-
4.2.1 inverting the cash drawer and removing 4 screws in the feet.
4.2.2 remove the bottom plate.
4.2.3 release the interface board bracket by removing the two screws at the rear,
located approx 2" either side
of the low voltage connector.
4.2.4 gently withdraw the interface board a little as the solenoid is still connected to it.
4.3.ensure the dip switches are set as listed below.

Switches 1-7 set the ascii character to ctrl-g
Switch 8 sets the two character mode.
Switches 9-10 set the baud rate to 9600
4.4.refit the interface board and replace the bottom plate.
Connect the data cables and the psu.
4.5.set the VDU aux port up for serial printer 9600 8 1 n.
5.testing
5.1.configure the VDU to output ctrl-g ctrl-g to the aux port.
Ensure the cash drawer opens.
5.1.1.
For wyse 55 VDU.
In VDU set up select f5 ports
Change host ports from modem to aux.
Save and exit VDU set ups
Anything typed on the keyboard will now come out of the aux port.
On keyboard typectrl-g
Ctrl-g
The cashdrawer should open.
After test enter VDU set up and select f5 ports
Change host port back to modem from aux
Save and exit VDU set up.
5.2.when functioning normally (see annex a) or when testing from
The system, the CTRL-G CTRL-G must be preceded by the
"printer on" signal and followed by the "printer off" signal.
5.2.1
For wyse 55 VDU, 2020 VDU, 4000 VDU.
(for other VDU's you need to check the VDU operations manual to find the printer on and off sequence).
On another VDU, other than the one connected
to the VDU/cashdrawer under test; enter sysprog unlink
the line to the unit under test converse this

The cashdrawer should open.
Unconverse the line and link it up again.
5.3.the green led should illuminate when the mains adapter is
Powered. If the led does not illuminate, check the adapter and power cable.
5.4.the green led should flash momentarily when the interface receives data.
6.servicing
Servicing in the field will be by whole unit replacement.
7.multi operation
One cashdrawer can be operated from 2 VDU's
using the icjd, intelligent cashdrawer junction device.
The connections and cable specification are
shown at annex b and annex c.
