2 INTRODUCTION
This FECO details loading the latest UNIX SVR4 patches
3 PRE-REQUISITES
DO NOT COMMENCE ANY UPGRADE UNLESS THERE ARE TWO COMPLETE
VERIFIED SAVES. THIS IS THE USER’S RESPONSIBILITY BUT REQUIRES THE ONSITE
ENGINEER TO CONFIRM COMPLETION
- System Media Set is available
- No users are on the system as a relink and reboot will be required at
the end of the load
- Maintenance Edition 8 is already installed (see section 4 for loading)
4 LOADING MAINTENANCE EDITION

4.1 Enter the following to determine what maintenance
addition is installed: -
pg Ñ /etc/.relid ¿
4.2 (Proceed to section 5 if Edition 8 is
installed)
4.3 Enter the following to identify the device name
of the cdrom
listdrives ¿
4.4 Enter the following to load: -
pkgplus Ñ –d Ñ
/dev/rdsk/cxtxdxsx ¿

The system then Builds the Package Dependency / Compatibility
List
At the Pkgplus Package Selection screen
All the Patches / Packages required to be updated will be auto selected and
highlighted
From the menu enter (x) Save + Exit
4.5 If only one package is displayed (pfs) select
(q) Quit/Abort and then rerun pkgplus
This occurs because the pkgplus utility gets updated first. Then this is
the new version that needs to be used to build the Package Dependency /
Compatibility List
4.6 A status bar will be displayed during the
load
4.7 On completion the system will relink and require
a reboot

5 LOADING PATCH UPDATES

Enter the following: -
