cradle and quick start guide
This document refers to the installation on a Symbol
MC75A0 EDA running Windows Mobile 6.5. Refer to
Connections
Select “Wireless Manager”

Select the power button icon to the right of “All” to
turn the functions off
·
Select “X” to close the window
·
Arrow back

Change the “Device name” and “Description” as
required

Select “OK” to close the window
Select “Backlight”

Set the time to “2 minutes”

Check the box to “Enable backlight when a button is

On
the Host PC Insert the MC70 Companion CD into
the CD drive. Browse to the ActiveSync 4.5 directory on the CD and run “Setup.exe”
Select
next to continue, agree to the terms of the licence agreement and enter the
username and organisation in the customer info. Accept the default installation
path of “C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync”, select next and then install.
Once
the installation has finished the “Get Connected” screen is displayed
Dock
the device in the cradle as instructed.
Select
next to continue and the software will scan the COM ports. The Scanner should
‘Beep’ when it is detected and the setup new partnership screen will be shown.
Take the default option to setup a new partnership, select to only synchronise with one computer and select to synchronise files.
You’ll
be advised that a folder will be created on your desktop computer, select “OK”
At
the “Allow wireless data connections” screen select ”Next”
Select
finish to close the wizard and the device will then be synchronised via
ActiveSync.
Java
Crème Plus (version 4.12) is an application run time required by the Symbol MC75A0
series scanner running Windows mobile 6.5 that will allow the EDP PPT Scanner
Software to operate.
The
Crème plus CAB file is downloaded from the NSICOM web site and MUST be
installed on each device running the EDP software. The file need only be downloaded
once and used for each scanner device (a copy of the software is on the MC70
Companion CD).
EDP
has purchased a number of Licences from NSICOM to be used with the Java
Software; these can be obtained from
Copy
the Java Crème Plus CAB file to the device: -
Select “File Explorer”

Browse to “My Device”, “Temp”
·
Select the “CrE-MEplus…CAB” file to run the
installation

At the “Choose a location prompt” leave “Device”
selected and Select “Install”
|
|
·
At the restart prompt select “Yes”
A
Crème Plus licence file is required for each Mobile Device and can be obtained
from
Copy
the Java Crème Plus License.dll to the device: -
Exit
the Microsoft ActiveSync Explorer window
The
installation will then continue on the device

Run
PPT Barcoding on the Mobile Device to create the default bar coding properties
file and bar coding directory structure: -
Select “PPT Barcoding” (If
the device hangs perform a soft reset and run again).

Select “Ok” to close the “No Stock file Table”

Select “Application Menu”

Return to the “Main Menu” and “Exit”
·
Select “Yes” to confirm

The
installation will then continue on the device

Run
POD on the Mobile Device to create the default proof of delivery properties
file and POD directory structure.
Select “Pod”

Select “Exit” at the Main Menu
·
Exit Programs
Reboot
the scanner to check the persistence of the applications
·
Press and hold the power button for 8 seconds
·
Run the POD and PPT Barcoding applications from the start
menu
Once the
MC75A0 is configured test that the device can access the local LAN / Internet
while connected via the cradle (if the PC has internet capability). This is
important as the POD and Barcode software uploads information from the device,
through the PC to the Charisma server via a web page / network connection.

Dock the device in the cradle and wait until ActiveSync has
synchronised
·
On the device go to

Leave
“This network card connects to: The internet” selected and select “Connect”
·
Input
a web page in the browser, such as www.bbc.co.uk
and select the “Go to” arrow
ActiveSync no longer has a backup facility. A 3rd party application would have to purchased to perform a full backup of the device
Once the software has been installed contact Professional Services at EDP/BML to configure the barcode scanning software
If
POD is to be configured the EDP/ BML implementor will edit the
pod.properties file to set the required IP address of the Quantum VS XML
Highway server.
