2.         Overview

2.1       When a customer has a Home ADSL and terminal servers, access to the terminal servers is through the router using a feature within NAT (Network Address Translation) known as port forwarding

2.2                          This FECO explains how to configure access to a Perle JetStream through a ZyXEL router with the firewall up, when running Linux AS4

NOTE : This will only work for ONE Jetstream.

3.         Prerequisites

·         A live ADSL with a ZyXEL router configured for home use (EDP settings)

·         A Perle Jetstream

·         Access to the AS4 server

4.         Adding the printer in Linux using rcp

4.1       On the AS4 server, Login as root and add printer into cups as normal: -

4.2       All other procedures of adding the printer into the Application apply as normal, i.e. adding into Charisma / Esprit / UniVision etc.

5.         Configuring the Perle Jetstream  Termnal  Server

5.1       Set relevant ports to printer, soft flow control.

6.         Configuring the ZyXEL router

6.1       Browse to the pre-configured router using Internet Explorer or an alternative browser

6.2              Login and browse to Network, NAT

Select the Port Forwarding tab

6.3       From the Service Name dropdown list select User define

6.4       On the Rule Setup page select Active

Enter a Service name (e.g. rcp)

Add the port 515 as both start and end ports

Add the Server IP Address (i.e. the IP address of the Perle Jetstream 192.168.1.2)

Select Apply

6.5       Backup the router rom-0 file as normal and Logout

7.         Testing and Troubleshooting

7.1       On the AS4 server, Login as root and send a job to the printer(s): -

lp Ñ –d Ñ LP01 Ñ /etc/hosts ¿         (Where LP01 is the printer queue name)

7.2       If the print does not work, check the router logs and ensure that the relevant traffic is being forwarded to the correct private IP Address

7.3       Check that the Jetstream has the correct default gateway

7.4                          Port forward telnet (port 23) to the Jetstream.

If this works, check port settings for each printer on the Jetstream
