1.         Note

 

Throughout this FECO a carriage return is shown either by the symbol ¿ or <CR>. A space in a string is shown by the symbol Ñ, all other spaces are purely cosmetic

Use <TAB>, the arrow keys ¯­ or the mouse to highlight and select during the Linux installation

 

2.         Prerequisites

 

QVT software

BCT keys file – function key file

 

3.         Installation

 

3.1              Setup the PC with a valid IP Address and Subnet Mask and connect to the network

 

3.2       Insert the QVT CD into the drive

     From the Windows desktop select My Computer - CD Drive

Select the DISK1 folder then select the setup.exe icon

The QVT/Net 5.1.4 Setup Welcome Screen will be displayed

Select Next

Select Next to accept the default path installation i.e. C:\ Program Files\QPC\QvtNet\

Select Yes to Confirm New Directory creation if prompted

At the Components Menu deselect all applications to be installed with the exception of Terminal and FTP then select Next

Use QvtNet as the default Program Folder then select Next

At Select Components, leave 'I would like each user to have their own data' selected and click 'Next'

Setup completes loading and asks you to restart the computer.

Open C:\ Program Files\QPC\QvtNet\bin

Right Click on the Term icon, modify and append the Target location with the IP Address of server you are connecting to

 

            e.g. "C\Program Files\QPC\QvtNet\bin\Term.exe"  100.10.0.1

 

Select OK

Select the Term icon

The following prompt will be displayed  "Do you want to make QVT/Term your default Telnet application?"

Select YES to accept, You should now have a telnet session to the server

Select File then Exit , A message will be displayed "OK to drop current session?"

Select Yes

            In the QvtNet window select File then Close the window

 

3.3       Copy the version of the BCTKEYS.KM file you have to the system

     Right click on Bctkeys.km

Select Copy

Select File then Close window

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C: \ProgramFiles\QPC\QvtNet\bin

Then right click and Paste Bctkeys.km into the folder

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to

 

C:\Program Files\QPC\QvtNet\Terminal\USERNAME – where username is the name of the user you are logged in as.

 

Then right click and Paste Bctkeys.km into the folder

Select File then Close the window

       Remove the CD from drive

 

3.4       Select Start from the task bar then

Select Programs - QvtNet - Terminal to open your telnet session to the server

Select Setup - Default Settings - Files.

In the Keyboard Mapping File: location enter BCTKEYS.KM in upper case. Click OK

Select File then Exit the window

A message will be displayed "OK to drop current session?"

       Select Yes

 

3.5       Create a shortcut for TERMINAL on the windows desktop

Navigate from START - Programs - QvtNet - Terminal

       Right click on Terminal and Send To - Desktop (create shortcut)

 

4          Upon completion ensure that the customer tests QVT with his application

 

5          To remove this application if required select

My Computer - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - QvtNet

The UnistallShield will remove the program

       Select OK when complete

 

5.1       To complete the removal

            Open Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files and delete the QPC folder

            Also Delete the Terminal shortcut on the Windows Desktop
