SYMBOL LS4004 BAR CODE READER FOR USE ON CHARISMA ONLY

1 INTRODUCTION
This is to introduce the symbol LS4004 Bar Code Reader (BCR)

2 It is a simple bar code reader for use on Charisma only, connected as a key board wedge.
A diagram of the LS4004 is shown below and the connection options diagram is at the rear.

4            INSTALLATION
              The installation procedure is to physically connect up the LS4004 to the device, PC or UDV,
              that it will function from; then scan bar codes to set it up. These bar codes are in the two booklets,
              the Product Reference Guide or the appropriate Synape Interface Guide that comes with the
              equipment.

5            PHYSICAL CONNECTION
              Connect the LS4004 as shown in the diagram on page 3, for the appropriate type of
              connection required; VDU or PC.

6             SCANNING
               Aim the LS4004 at the target bar code and press the trigger. The scanning beam remains on
               for approx 3 seconds or until a sucessful decode.
               When the LS4004 has read the bar code it will give a high tone bleep and the yellow LED turns
               to green for 2 seconds, or until the next trigger pull.

7 SET UP FOR VDU CONNECTION

7.1 This connection requires a PSU.

7.2 Having physically connected the LS4004, scan the bar codes in the order listed below.

7.4 The set-up is complete and the LS4004 is ready for use.

8 SET UP FOR PC CONNECTION

8.1         This connection does not require a PSU.
              Note : DO NOT USE THE BAR CODE READER POWER SUPPLY WHEN CONNECTED
              TO A PC, AS THE POWER IS SUPPLIED BY THE PC VIA THE KEYBOARD CONNECTION.
