CONFIGURATION SEQUENCE FOR LOCAL & REMOTE OFFICE CONNECT 531 ISDN ROUTER
Note
1. Throughout
this FECO a SPACE in a string is shown by a Ñ . All other
spaces are purely
cosmetic.
2. This
FECO lists the sequence to be used to configure both of a pair of Office Connect 531
ISDN
Routers, but doing it from one end of the link.
The FECO is written assuming:-
- The Offices Connect 531s are to be used as Routers on an ISDN connection.
- The configuration will be conducted from the Local / Host site; and the other end is called Remote.
- Both units are set to factory defaults before connection.
- Both units are connected to their networks and an ISDN line.
- The ISDN numbers and the network, IP addresses are known.
- Both units are powered on.
If any of the above criteria are not met, then the following sequences may not be valid.
3. The following sequences only give the outline; for greater details refer to FECO COMMS # 48.
4. Connect screen to the Local/Host 531. And enter the Configurations
5. Reset Local to factory Defaults CO STD <CR>
6. Configure
Local Systems Parameters
CO
SYS <CR>
Configure then
CTRL-E
Save
SAVE <CR>
7. Configure
Local Ports
CO PO <CR>
Configure Port IP Address & Port IP Mask then
CTRL-E
SAVE <CR>
8. Configure
Local ISDN
CO IS PA <CR>
Configure then save
CTRL-E

Insert ISDN Number
NU AD CTRL-E
CTRL-L
AUTO IP CTRL-E

The remote should be called NONAME
The network will need to be studied to determine the Idle Threshold.
For
initial base setting use 0.2%. This may need to be changed later when link is used
normally.
9. Access the remote NONAME
10. Reset Remote to Factory Defaults CO STD <CR>
11. Configure Remote System Parameters CO SYS <CR>
Configure do not save at this stage CTRL-E
12. Configure Remote Ports CO PO <CR>
Configure Port IP Address & Port IP Mask then CTRL-E
Do not Save at this stage.
13. Configure Remote ISDN CO IS PA <CR>
Configure then CTRL-E
Insert ISDN Number NU AD CTRL-E
CTRL-L
Auto
AUTO IP CTRL-E
Do not save
at this stage.
14. Enable Remote IP Router RO PA CTRL-E
Remote Route Table IP AD CTRL-E
CTRL-L
This will cancel the call.
15. Recall Remote 531
Enter Configuration and Save SAVE <CR>
16. Access Local 531
Enable Local IP Router RO PA CTRL-E

17. Access Remote 531.
18. Disable Remote Bridge. CO BR PA
Then save CTRL-E

19. Cancel the call.
20. Disable Local Bridge. CO BR PA

21. Set Gateway
On Local Host System set up a gateway to the Remote Network.
eg. Destination Network Gateway
cd Ñ /usr / sbin / route Ñ -v Ñ add Ñ -net 129.10.0.0 129.1.101.101
22. To list Routing Table on Host System
Use netstat Ñ -r
