	REASON FOR CHANGE:	INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR AN ISA DIGIBOARD-8, INSTALLED IN AN S40.

Full esd precautions must be followed at all times.

1. Reason

To list the instructions to install an isa digiboard-8 into an NCR 3438 S40 system.

2. Ensure the customer has 2 verified filesaves and the on-site document is present and correct.

Obtain a printout of LISTPRO, LISTPTR BU, T-STATUS and list details from :INIT-DISK. Check path to UV with !pwd at tcl.

Copy pool. Free table and then shutdown the system.

3. On the digiboard

Set the dip switches on the board as follows:

Sw1 off

Sw2 off

Sw3 on

Sw4 on

4. Install the digiboard into an available eisa slot. Make a note of the slot number.
5. Boot the system with the scu diskette installed in the flex drive.
6. From the main menu

• Select option 2 - add/remove boards

Select add=insert

Select digiboard pc/xe - isa configuration file.

If the configuration is not on the scu diskette repeat the above with the digiboard configuration files diskette.

• @ the slot select menu

Select the relevant eisa slot that the digiboard had been installed into.

• Select option 3 - change configuration settings

Select the digiboard

Display the settings i/o address 100h

Dual ported mem d0000h

Pc/xe interupt disabled

Esc to main menu

• Select option 4 - save configuration <cr>

Select option 5 - view switch/jumper settings <cr>

Select `print=f7' send print job to file,

(the printout of the system configuration can then be made using pts)

Esc to main menu

• Select option 6 - exit

Reboot the system to unix login prompt.

1. Login to root

Pkgadd the MPI package for either tape or diskette

@#enter mpi <cr> and follow the menu driven instructions:

Select config - install. Change. And remove

Select install - install, new product

Select digi xe and xi family

Number of boards to install 1

Board type digi_8e(8k,rs232/rs422)

I/o address ox100

Mem address oxod0000

F5 to configure 0xd0000

Following screen

Install digi-screen no

Alpin setting off

F5 to configure kernel

2. After kernel rebuild

Esc out of mpi set-up menu's the # prompt

Re-boot the system

3. (note: the version of mpi package used was 2.21b on version 03.00.03 unix o/s)
4. Testing

Test digiboard ports function.

5. Recording action

Ensure on site document completed up top date.
