1.Reason for change.
NCR have introduced a new revision of the system baseboard for the
NCR4300, the c0
(c zero).
2.Change.
2.1.revision b0 of the alder baseboard, NCR part no 530-0041306, is no longer in
production.
2.2.this has been superceded by revision c0, NCR part no 530-004217, which incorporates
the latest revision of the orion chipset; and the platform
cd-rom that contains system
bios 1.00.07 required to support that chipset.
2.3.assemblies may be replaced on a like for like basis without problems.
2.4.if a rev c0 assembly is replacing a rev b0 assembly; a platform CD-ROM, 530-0042225
or later, will be required. This version of the platform cd-rom,
1.03.00.05 or later,
contains the system bios required for the rev c0 assembly.
2.5.if the system being serviced is running NCR Unix MP-RAS, a compatibility CD-ROM
bst9-2139-03 will be required to correct an interaction
between the operating system
and the new BIOS.
