Reason for change
1.1 on the logic board the screws into the 71 volt surge capacitor
must be really tight as when the hammers
fire a very large current flows out of the
60,000 mdf capacitor. Arcing and burning can occur if there is not
a very low resistance between the board and the
capacitor studs.
1.2 initially the screws were filled with star washers to give a good
bite into the solder on the board. It has
been found this can damage the plated - thru
hole.
Change
2.1 a new type of screw with an integral square - cone washer is to
be used. The mt part number is 402
524-63 (1-32x0.50inch screw-sems, cross
recess). The screw torque is specified as 25 inch pounds or 282
centimetre newtons.
Testing
Test for function.
Recording action
Affix a modification strike label, if one not already fitted to pcb.
Strike through but do not obliterate 3.
