	REASON FOR CHANGE:	FLOW CONTROL PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCED ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MODEM WHEN PROCESSING LONG LISTS.

Change

To overcome this problem new ttydefs need to be created, the modem set up to be changed, and cable type em used. This change does not affect roe modems. This change also amends feco comms # 11. (see para 6).

The ttydef labels are basically modified "2400np", "9600np" & "1920onp" settings.

The differences are:

A.hupcl added

B.xon/xoff flow control disabled

C.rts/cts flow control enabled

D.full 8 bits enabled

E.set to non-auto baud (label at front of line matches label at end of line)

4.        to change ttydef labels

4.1      login to root

4.2      at # enter dd if=/etc/ttydefs of=/etc/ttydefs.old

           Creates copy of the current ttydefs file.

4.3     at # enter vi /etc/ttydefs to display the file.

          (tech serv ref 27/7/1)

4.4    use j to move the cursor down to the empty line after the paragraph beginning "300np"

4.5    enter i to go into insert mode.

4.6    enter" # following settings for modem "

4.8  enter esc:wq to save insert

4.9  use sysadm to modify ports for the relevant new ttydefs label.

5.    to change modem setting

       (with modem connected to system)

5.1 enter UniVision & SYSPROG

5.2 unlink the line to which the modem is attached

       Converse this line

5.3 enter at\s to display current settings and check you are conversing with the modem.

5.4 enter at&f to default settings.

5.5 enter at\n3\j0&d0s0=1q1\q3&w

       This enables hardware flow control.

       Note: this is an update to page 2 of feco comms#11

5.6 exit the converse mode by entering esc x.

5.7 relink the line.

6.   amend page 2 of feco comms #11 by inserting a hand written amendment under the line.

      "then enter at\n3\j0&d0s0+1q1&w (cr)"

       Hand written amendment is:-

      "for UniVision enter at\n3\j0&d0s0=1q1\q3w "

       Refer feco 3000#36"

7.    testing

        Test modem for function.

8.    recording action

       Enter in site log.

       Complete any other relevant documentation.
