REASON FOR CHANGE: TO INTRODUCE THE MAXAM MXF RANGE OF MODEMS

1.The racal maxam mxf range of modems are used as dial up diagnostic support modems.

2.They are powered from an external power supply that is unique to the mxf range and must not be used on any
        other of the maxam range.

3.The mxf range and mec descriptions are listed below.

        2400 v22 rac-mxf2422-modem(v22)

        9600 v32 rac-mxf9632-modem(v32)

        14.4 v32 rac-mxf1432-modem(v32)

4.The mxf front and rear panels are shown below.

5.Features

        The sloping fronted beige modem measures approx:

        15.5 x 26 x 3.5mm

        6 x 10 x 1.5inches

6.Internal switches and jumpers

        There is no need to access the interior as there are no internal switches or jumpers.

8.At power on the modem will sequence up leaving the pwr lt/dcd and dtr lamps on.

9.Configuration dial up

9.1.connect a vdu to the dte port.

        Enter ati3response is display of model no and firmware revision.

9.2.other initial options

        Enter ati0display product id code.

        Enter ati1display firmware code.

        Enter ati5displays product features.

        Enter ati8displays country code.

        Enter at&vdisplays active and stored profile.

9.3.enter at&vto display and note settings.

9.4.enter at&fto reload factory default.

9.5.enter at&u2&k3so=1s31=ofn&w0w1

        Where &u2enables pass through xon/xoff.

        &k3enables xon/xoff modem flow control.

        So=1enable auto answer on 1 ring.

        S31=0terminal speed lock - auto detect.

        &wsaves settings.

        Fnselect speed as per below.

9.6.note:when the modem is connected to a power stack system, it needs to be in the quiet mode. Also enter:-

        Atq1&w0&w1.

9.7.dialback setup.

9.7.1commands:-

        At\bsdialback setup

        At\bvview dialback setup

        At\b1enable dialback

        At&w0&w1save settings

        Note: these setups are case sensitive.

9.7.2there can be upto 20 users, numbered 1-20.

        In addition there is a master user, user 0.

9.7.3.to enable dialback

        Enter at\b1&w0&w1

9.7.4to view existing setup

        Then use factory default or edp setting, which ever is set.

        Factory defaultedp setting

        At user id prompt enter passwordsetup

        The existing setup will be displayed, excluding user 0.

9.7.5edp standard set up

        Setup the following user id's; and any customer requirements.

        Note:usually id's 0 and 5 are only used now.

9.7.6to change set up

        Enter at\bs

        At master user id prompt, enter "password" or "setup" whichever applicable.

        At master user password prompt, enter "password" or "maxam4" whichever applicable.

        At prompt user number enteruser number

        At prompt user id?enternew user id

        At prompt dialback password enternew password

        At prompt dialback number enternew number

        Note:for user 0 and 5 do not enter new number above, just leave blank by pressing, enter.

        Repeat the above for all users required.

        Finally enter at&w0&w1 to save.
