MODIFICATION NO: | N/A | |
PRODUCT: | ONEAC UPS ON NCR 3000 SYSTEMS
SUB-ASSEMBLY | SHOWDOWN/PLUS SOFTWARE
ESTIMATED MAN HOURS | N/A
CLASS OF CHANGE: | INFORMATIONAL
REASON FOR CHANGE: | TO INFORM YOU OF THE CONFIGURATION AND INSTALLATION OF SHOWDOWN PLUS SOFTWARE |
1. Reason for change
The oneac ups with the
advanced serial card communicates with at&t Unix SVR4
and informs the system of a
powerfail event. The associated software package,
showdown/plus, provides
automatic shutdown and status code messaging thus
enabling Unix to shutdown the
system in a controlled manner.
2. Switch settings
Set the advanced serial card switches as follows:-
1, 5, 6 on. All other switches off.
The interface is now set to 9600 baud, 8 bits, no parity and 1 stop bit.
3. Connection
3.1 connect your system power lead into the ups.
3.2 connect the ups to the incoming mains.
3.3 connect the provided serial lead to the comm2 port of your system.
3.4 connect the other end of the lead to the advanced
serial card at the back of the
ups.
(tech serv ref: 12/2/1)
3.5 change directory with cd/etc/conf/sdevice.d and then more asy
This displays one line for com1 as follows:-
Asyy16143f83ff 00
And displays one line for com2 as follows:-
Asyy16132f82ff 00
Note only enable the com2
port on the system using pts.menu if no entry is
shown for com2 and then
rebuild kernel with
/etc/conf/bin/idbuild
