SUB-ASSEMBLY NEW RIBBON MONITOR & OLD SHUTTLE/RIBBON BOARD
ESTIMATED MAN HOURS N/A
CLASS OF CHANGE:
  • MANDATORY BY REPAIRS ON FAILURE OR REWORK
  • MANDATORY BY PRODUCTION ON COMMISSIONING
  • MANDATORY BY FIELD SERVICE ON MOTOR REPLACEMEN
REASON FOR CHANGE: INCOMPATABILITIES BETWEEN SHUTTLE/RIBBON BOARD AND NEW REPLACEMENT RIBBON MOTOR

    1.  Introduction

There are incompatabilities between the earlier shuttle/ribbon PCB's and the new globe ribbon motor.

2.1.  to overcome this problem a kit is being produced which will contain the new type of ribbon motor and a
           compatable shuttle/ribbon PCB.

If the PCB is not required it is to be returned to repairs at park house lane for reuse.

2.2.  new type of ribbon motor:

Globe motor (MT part no: 610443-2)

Incompatable shuttle/ribbon PCB's:

608272-1 up to and including rev v

608977-1 rev new and a only

Which have not been modified. Mod label strike 2 is the identifier.

(tech serv ref: 25/3/1)

(MT660 sn126 rev. New)

    3.  motor replacement

3.1.  the ralm is responsible for modifying the motor and the PCB; and for producing the kit.

3.2.  for every globe motor MT part no 610443-2 received by EDP a kit must be produced, consisting of:

* globe motor with modified leads

* compatable shuttle/ribbon PCB.

3.3.  this kit is to be called the MT660/690 ribbon motor replacement kit.

    4.  modification

    4.3.  recording action

Affix a modification label to the board if one is not already affixed.

Strike through but do not obliterate 2.

4.4.  on the cable assembly going to the globe motor, cut off the old connectors to the motor and crimp on
the new connectors provided with the motor. They are MT part no 402404-01.

    5.  motor replacement

5.1.  before replacing a cannon ribbon motor (MT part no. 402580-01) with a globe motor (MT part no.
610443-2) you are to check the part number and revision level of the shuttle/ribbon PCB.

5.2.  boards 608272-1 up to and including rev.v.

& 608977-1 rev. New and a only.

Must not be used, if they have not been modified. Mod label strike 2 is the identifier.

Unmodified boards are to be sent to repairs for modification.

5.3.  unmodified boards must be removed from the machine and replaced by the PCB from the MT660/690
           ribbon motor replacement kit.

5.4.  unmodified boards must be sent to repairs for modification.

5.5.  unused 'servicable' PCB's must also be returned to repairs.

    5.6.  testing

Check the supply to the motor and check it runs clockwise; (when viewed from above) in the direction of the arrow on the ribbon cassette.

    5.7.  MT690 only

If you are fitting this motor to an MT690, you may have to move the air duct down to fit the new longer motor. Bend the bracket to do so. Check that the air is still directed to the hammer bank and that the motor is not rubbing on the duct.
