CLASS OF CHANGE: | INFORMATIONAL | |
REASON FOR CHANGE: | ADDING THE FOURTH ADAPTEC AHA 2944W ADAPTER CAUSING GARBLED CHARACTERS. |
1.If four adaptec AHA2944w differential SCSI adapters are installed in one system, the
user
will experience garbled characters when accessing the SCSI select main menu
(initiated
via a control-a during boot).
The first three adapters are listed correctly, but the fourth unit
produces several lines of
garbled characters.
If the user selects the fourth entry, all subsequent menus are
correct and the user can
modify all selections for that adapter.
These garbled characters will span several lines from the fourth
menu item. The fourth
menu item will be blank and the three previous menu items will be
correct. When
configuring the system, the user may select any of the four items with
the cursor keys
and successfully configure the adapter. This problem is cosmetic only.
2.when using the adaptec 2944w in a lifekeeper situation, install the adapter after the
boot SCSI adapter for the system (based on PCI scan order). For example, when
installing the NCR f/k125 kit in the S40, insert the adapter in the bottom
PCI slot. In
addition, when configuring the adapter, enable the SCSI BIOS and disable SCSI
bus reset
at power up.
