REASON FOR CHANGE: TO RELEASE THE TALLY 2045 & 2060 PRINTERS.

1      Reason for change 

EDP introduce the tally 2045 and tally 2060 impact printers. They are 132 column 24 pin printhead heavy duty printers designed for up to 900 pages per day.

They are designed to compete with the OKI 395 or OKI 3410.

The 2060 is a faster version.

5.     load ribbon

5.1   ensure any paper loaded in the printer is removed

5.2   ensure the power is switched on.

5.3   open the front top cover of the printer

5.4   slide the coloured friction handle to the left, (in the direction of the arrow) as shown in the figure and lift
       the friction mechanism.

5.5   move the print head to approximately the centre.

Beware!! The printhead may be hot if it has been in use.

5.6   remove the used cassette, if applicable

5.7   lift the coloured insertion guide a

5.8   insert the coloured tension knob in to the fromt right receptacle of the new ribbon cassette.

Turn the knob in the direction of the arrow to tighten the ribbon.

5.9   slightly tilt the ribbon cassette towards the front and insert the ribbon between the coloured insertion guide
       and the paper guide (transparent plastic plate).

5.10 align the cassette properly and press down until it clicks into place.

5.11 turn the tension knob in the direction of the arrow to slacken the ribbon until it touches the ribbon carrier at
       the bottom.

5.12 push the coloured insertion guide a down.

5.13 move the print head carriage several times to and fro. The ribbon is inserted correctly if there is no
       resistance.

5.14 press the friction mechanism down until it clicks into place.

5.15 close the front top cover.

6.     loading paper

6.1   slide the latches on the front flap upwards, then turn the flap itself upwards until it clicks into place.

6.2   lift the single sheet feeder b.

6.3   open the left and right hand tractor flaps. Turn the coloured levers toward the front to unlock the tractors.

6.4   insert the fanfold paper into the left tractor first. Make sure that at least three perforated holes are
       engaged with tractor pins.

Close the tractor flap

Align the tractor in such a way that the first printing position matches the x mark on the printer housing. Lock the tractor by turning the tractor lever towards the rear.

6.5   align the right hand tractor to the paper width, insert the paper, close the tractor flap and lock the tractor
       by turning the tractor lever towards the rear.

6.6   slightly raise the single sheet feeder to release it then push it inwards and down.

Close the front flap and latch.

6.7   paper is automatically fed when the printer is in online status and received data from the computer.

Press the load key to load paper before printing.

8.1   ensure printer is offline

8.2   press set up

8.3   select menu

8.4   select print

9.     set tear position

9.1   press setup

9.2   press adjust

9.3   press tear

9.4   press < or > to move the perforation to the appropriaate position.

9.5   confirm the setting by pressing the set button

9.6   press the set up button, and the printer will return to its initial status.

9.7   the correction shown in 72nds of an inch to a maximum of 1" in both directions.

10.     set top of form (tof)

10.1  open the top cover

10.2  the tof can be set for each individual type of paper source and each menu.

Tof should be adjusted after the tear position.

10.3  press set up

10.4  press adjust

10.5  press tof

10.6  the bottom edge of the currently valid first printing line a of the paper is transported to the tear edge b.

The factory setting for the first printing position is 12/72".

10.7  press < or > to move the first printing line to the appropriate position.

You can set values from 0 to 220/72" for fanfold paper or 0 to 72/72" for single sheet.

10.8  confirm the setting by pressing set button.

10.9  press the setup key. The printer returns to its initial status.

12.     ribbon mask replacement warning

The ribbon mask is held by different screws on the left and right hand side.

The left one should be m3x6mm and the right one m3x8mm.

If you mix the screws up you can damage the aga sensor.

When replacing the screws ensure that the correct screws is are in the correct position.

16.     interior access

16.1  remove the rear cover

16.2  at the rear release the complete top cover assembly by inserting a small screwdriver into the two release
        holes, approx 2 inches down and 2 inches in from each side.

16.3  pivot the cover off towards the front.

Beware!! There is a short ribbon cable attached to the front control panel.

16.4  release control panel from the panel. Disconnect the ribbon cable from the control panel.

16.5  remove the serial interface by pulling the coloured lever at the rear, and remove the interface from the side,

16.6  to remove the rear tray assembly

(contains psu, main logic, mains input and mains switch)

16.7  unscrew rear fixing screw.

16.8  withdraw the assembly a little. Beware of mains switch lead.

16.9  release the mains switch by rotating 90 degrees and lifting out.

16.10  the assembly can now be completely withdrawn.

16.11  the assembly is plastic with a metal plate chassis.

The main logic plugs into a connector card to which are the connectors for all the motors/switches/sensors etc.

16.12  the paper assembly is held into the base by four rubber looped bungs.

17.     at present edp is only supplying the 2045 not the 2060.
