REASON FOR CHANGE: TO LIST THE REVISED SETTINGS FOR THE CRAY DCX 832 MULTIPLEXOR

        Introduction

1. Cray multiplexors have changed their name to case.

        In future they may be referred to as either cray or case.

2. There is a need to revise the standard settings for use on the cray/case dcx 832.

3. On the existing FECO COMMS #39:-

        * delete para 6. But not figure 4.3

        * delete para 7.4

4. insert new attached sheet between existing page 2 and page 3.

        New sheet is titled "page 2a of 14" and "page 3a of 14" and contains revised para 6 and revised para 7.4.

5. para 9.3. Addition of parameter.

        Setting e: number of channels

        Add:- "9, 17, 25, or 33."

        New para 6.

6. configuration supervisor.

6.1 manufacturers default is for any port to be used for supervisor access; and the access is achieved by
        entering , followed by the user escape character, the manufacturers default being ctrl-a. I.e. " ctrl-a". This
        setting can cause problems.

6.2.1 the EDP standard will be to restrict supervisor access to the first channel, i.e. channel 1; and to bar
        supervisor access through all the other channels.

6.2.2 the supervisor entry by the user escape character, is changed to break, break, break.

6.3 to enter the configuration/supervisor mode, connect a VDU to channel 1, set to the speed of that channel.

6.4 log on by entering the user escape character. The EDP standard is:- break, break, break, with at least a one
        second gap between each key press.

        For adds 4000 VDU's the EDP standard is:-

        CTRL-BREAK, CTRL-BREAK, CTRL-BREAK

        Note:- this will only be effective after it has been changed from the manufacturers default of ctrl-a.

6.5 the initial screen is displayed with instructions.

6.6 note:- entering at `enter password prompt' takes you into a limited set up mode only. Do not use this.

6.7 at `enter password prompt', enter: logon.

6.8 at `local remote manager prompt' enter l, r, m1 or m2 as required.

        The supervisor menu is displayed.

        Note:- m1 and m2 are to be used to access the supervisor at remote ends when there are 3 nodes
        connected together.

6.9 from the supervisor menu the required option can be selected.

6.10 to exit the supervisor menu select x, the unit responds `goodbye'.

        New para 7.4

7.4 select option 1 to configure all parameters, or letter to configure only one, then reset parameters as
        necessary to those below:-
