OF OLDER STYLE EQUIPMENT

1010 VDUs and MT88 & NDR8820 PRINTER

INTRODUCTION
Recently problems have been experienced connecting older style peripherals via a Specialix
I/O8+ in an S20 system; running Unix SVR4 03.02 and Univision. The equipment concerned was
a 1010 VDU, an MT88 & an NDR8820 printer. This FECO lists what can and can not be
connected to the above, and the configuration required.
- Please note, only those items currently approved can be connected. ALL other items are
to be evaluated prior to any customer being told that it will function, and allowed to be
connected.
- In all cases the resolution uses the standard issued cable specs of;
Cable Type FL Specialix I/O8+ to conversion cable
Cable Type FM Conversion Cable to VDU/Printer.

The following DO function correctly and approved for use:- NCR 2020 NCR 4000
The following DOESNOT function correctly and should not be used NCR 1010.

MT88 PRINTER
The MT88 Printer requires being reset and the system reset through sysadm Univision
Applications, to 9600 7 EVEN with XON/XOFF flow control. The revised MT88 switch settings
are listed below.

NDR8820 PRINTER
The NDR8820 Printer requires being reset and also the system reset through sysadm
Univision Applications, and set up for 9600 7 EVEN and XON/XOFF flow control.

- The above would enable the customer to operate the VDU and printers connected to an
I/O8+ on an S20 running SVR4 03.02. and Univision.
- It It is the responsibility of the Customer Services Supervisor to ensure that ALL non
approved peripherals are evaluated and approved; prior to any customer being told that
they will function, and allowed to be connected to the I/O8+.
