TRAVAN TAPE UNIT CLEANING KITS
3.1 Cleaning Kit
EDP SUPPLIES number 320510.
GENEVA 100 8GB TRAVAN TAPE
UP TO 30 CLEANS PER CLEANING UNIT
The cleaning cartridge is made by a cleaning company called CIRTAPE (based in Minneapolis,
USA). The name of the cartridge is Geneva 100.
The Tecmar part number is QTT400C-005.
3.2 Procedure
Insert the cleaning cartridge in the drive. The tape will move forward at 35 inches per
second for 8 seconds. During this time the head moves up and down. Then the tape stops and
the user may remove the cartridge.
NOTE : The cleaning cartridge is never rewound. Based on the above procedure, 15 cleaning
cycles can be expected by the Geneva cartridge.

6.1 Determining the Firmware Level for Windows 9x.
6.1.1 From Windows 9x Opening Screen :
Click START - SETTINGS - CONTROL PANEL
6.1.2 Double click the Systems Icon; choose the Device Manager tab.
6.1.3 Double click on Tape Drives, then highlight the appropriate tape drive name.
Click on Properties, then select the SETTINGS tape. You will see the Firmware Version.
6.2 Determining the Firmware level for Windows NT.
6.2.1 If the drive is attached to a Windows NT 4.x server or workstation :
Click START - SETTINGS - CONTROL PANEL and select Tape Devices.
6.2.2 From Tape Devices select Properties and then Settings.
6.2.3 The Firmware revision will be displayed.
6.3 Determining the Firmware Level for Unix SVR4.
6.3.1 From root Enter prtconf Ñ | Ñ pg
6.3.2 This will display detailed information on all the drives.
6.3.3 <CR> to display the relevant Travan Tape unit and note the Firmware Revision
Level.
6.3.4 <CR> to the end of the display and then Enter exit
